Cashel Community School is a caring, supportive, and vibrant co-educational school

Cashel Community School is delighted to invite 5th and 6th class students and their families to our annual Open Night on Thursday, October 8th at 7pm where you can explore the wealth of educational and extracurricular opportunities that our school community has to offer.

Cashel Community School is a caring, supportive, and vibrant co-educational school where the highest standards of teaching and learning are at the heart of all we do. At Cashel Community School, there truly is something for everyone.

Whether a student’s passion lies in academics, sports, music, science, engineering, languages or personal development, our school provides the environment and opportunities to help every individual to thrive.

A Diverse Range of Subjects and Learning Opportunities

Students at Cashel Community access an exceptional variety of subjects and programmes for both Junior and Senior Cycle.

Our facilities include fully equipped computer rooms, IT-enabled classrooms, Home Economics kitchens, Art studios, modern refurbished Science laboratories, Music rooms, Technical workshops, a sports hall, outdoor courts, astro turf pitches, and grass playing fields.

We are also looking forward to our new extension, which will include six modern classrooms, a new DCG room, and upgraded spacious ASD facilities in Room 20.

For Junior Cycle students, in addition to a strong emphasis on core subjects such as English, CSPE, SPHE, Irish, Mathematics, History, Physical Education and Science, we offer ten optional subjects from which, at the end of first year, students choose four – modern languages, Art, Music, Wood Technology, Graphics, Metalwork, Home Economics, Business and Geography.

In CCS, our incoming first year students do not have to choose their optional subjects until they have had an opportunity to experience all of them, throughout their first year in the school.

We firmly believe that this approach ensures that our first students are in a strong position to make well-informed choices, which in turn, will help them to truly realise their full potential.

As our students progress to Senior Cycle, they can choose from a diverse range of established Leaving Certificate subjects, allowing them to tailor their education and play to their strengths so that they can realise their dreams and ambitions.

We also offer an innovative and exciting Transition Year Programme with work experiences, voluntary works and school tours.

Caring and Supportive Team

Cashel Community School is deeply committed to meeting the diverse needs of our students. Our dedicated and experienced staff work tirelessly to ensure that every student feels valued and is supported on their individual learning journey, while also developing as a member of our wider school community.

Our Additional Educational Team, led by our Special Educational Needs Coordinator and comprising of teachers and SNAs ensure that our students receive the necessary support to thrive.

Pastoral Care is a cornerstone of the holistic education we provide. Through our structured Peer Support system, Tutors, Chaplaincy, Guidance Counselling, and Learning Support, alongside well-established discipline structures, we ensure that all students have the opportunity to learn, grow, and thrive in a safe and inclusive learning environment.

Academic Excellence

Our commitment to high academic standards continues to bear fruit, with students consistently achieving excellent results in both the Junior Cycle and Leaving Certificate examinations.

The school fosters a culture of hard work and curiosity, supported by a dedicated and passionate teaching staff who guide students on their path to success, in partnership with parents/guardians.

A Vibrant Extracurricular Scene

We believe that education extends beyond the classroom. We take great pride in the wide range of extracurricular activities which are available to our students.

Cashel Community School has a proud tradition of sporting achievement. From hurling and football to camogie, athletics, rugby, basketball, soccer and more, our teams and athletes continue to compete – and win – at county, regional and national levels.

Similarly, the school’s music and arts programmes are a cornerstone of student life in CCS. From choir and various different music groups to stage productions and talent shows, our students regularly showcase their creativity and confidence.

Our annual school show is a great chance for all year groups to get involved in a ‘Broadway-like Production’. Previous musical productions have brought packed audiences to their feet.

Additionally, the school encourages community engagement through our active Students Council and volunteer programmes.

Other extracurricular activities which our students participate in include swimming, golf, games clubs, quiz club, creative writing, Green Schools, BT Young Scientist, Young Social Innovators (YSI), coaching and computer clubs.

These activities greatly enrich the lives and learning experiences of the students involved.

Preparing For The Future

Cashel Community School places a strong emphasis on preparing students for their futures beyond the school gates.

Guidance and career counselling services are readily available to help students to make informed decisions about their educational and career pathways. The school facilitates work experience opportunities, enabling students to gain real world insights into their chosen fields.

Our first-year students benefit from a weekly Digital Literacy class. Digital literacy is incorporated across the curriculum.

Moreover, Cashel Community School fosters a culture of critical thinking, problem-solving and creativity, equipping students with the skills necessary to thrive in an ever-evolving world.

This is reflected in our recent triumphs in the BT Young Scientist competition and in the number of students who are awarded NUI Entrance Scholarships, JP McManus Scholarships and Quercus Scholarships.

Scholarships and Bursaries

Every year there are two very valuable awards made to Leaving Certificate students – the Meaney Scholarships and the Godolphin Bursary.

We are very proud and grateful that we are in a position to make these opportunities available to our students.
