1. Lorrha

The team dropping down from senior for 2026. Despite their relegation, Lorrha were extremely competitive in nearly all their games and will feel they have the resilience to bounce straight back up. They have only added to their panel in the last 12 months and should be a tough nut to crack.

Key Player: Colm Fogarty

Player to Watch: Conor Kennedy

2. Carrick Swans

The Swans have been knocking on the door consistently for the last few years and are just looking for that something extra to get them over the precipice. Their South loss to Mullinahone was disconcerting, but the form lines are blurred significantly every year in the South Championship. In Stefan Tobin, they have a star in the making and will be there or thereabouts.

Key Player: Gavin O’Halloran

Player to Watch: Stefan Tobin

3. Gortnahoe Glengoole

A slow first half in the Mid loss to Thurles Sarsfields will be frustrating in hindsight, but you could see thereafter that they are capable and dangerous against anyone. They started that game without Davy Nolan and Keane Hayes, and when fully fit, that pair are irreplaceable for them. They will improve as the rounds go on.

Key Player: Keane Hayes

Player to Watch: Damien Corbett

4. Thurles Sarsfields

As is the case every year with the Thurles Sarsfields second team, a lot of their hopes will depend on the damage done by players being taken up to the senior team as the year progresses. As of now, they have a fantastic starting team for this grade with a nice blend of youth and experience.

Key Player: Michael Cahill

Player to Watch: Cillian Minogue

5. Silvermines

Quarter-finalists in 2025, the Mines are improving their lot with every passing year. The return of Mikey Corcoran is massive for them, with the Tipperary panellist winning the Player of the Match award in the recent North final, ending a drought in terms of divisional silverware. They will be dangerous to any team that crosses their path.

Key Player: Jason Forde

Player to Watch: Darragh Nolan

6. St Mary's

Mary’s players will be hopping into training in the last few weeks after their tremendous and historic South final success. Consistency will be a key requirement for them if they are to mount a challenge in the county series, though, and with the return of Peter McGarry recently, they will be in fine fettle.

Key Player: Seamus Kennedy

Player to Watch: Joe Higgins

7. Moneygall

Small mistakes against Silvermines were the key reason for their North Championship exit, but regardless, they have the talent at their disposal to make a good run in this year’s competition. The return of Sean Kenneally from injury is a massive boost to add to a young and exciting team.

Key Player: Sean Kenneally

Player to Watch: Eoghan Doughan

8. Killenaule

Killenaule are always in the conversation when it comes to potential champions, but they have failed to ignite in this grade in the last few years. Going through the players in their ranks, they have the quality to mount a challenge but will need to find a consistency of performance that evades them too often.

Key Player: Ciarán O’Dwyer

Player to Watch: Podge O’Dwyer

9. Templederry Kenyons

Defensive issues remain the key concern for Templederry Kenyons this year, but there is no denying the quality they have when all cards are available to them. Sean Ryan was missing for their North Championship efforts, but his return will be key to their chances this term.

Key Player: Sean Ryan

Player to Watch: Sean Collins

10. Boherlahan Dualla

The Sash will be hoping that recent absentees can return to help get their year up and running. The Moyne Templetuohy loss in the Mid Championship was concerning, but considering the players missing, it can be excused. Capable of beating anyone with a full deck, they will be in better form as the campaign goes on.

Key Player: Tossy Ryan

Player to Watch: Paddy Gahan

11. Ballina

Ballina will be happy with their form to date as they came up just short in a North final to Silvermines despite being missing some key players. Those injuries will need to clear up if they are to make a mark on this championship.

Key Player: Michael Breen

Player to Watch: Luke McKeogh

12. Burgess

Burgess are a team that will be eager to show their best after a near miss in the relegation final in 2025. There is no doubting that, on their day, they can be a tough prospect, but they will have to make it harder for teams to play against them. They have added some good young players to their team this year, and that should help.

Key Player: Stephen Murray

Player to Watch: Johnny Grace

13. Moyne Templetuohy

A satisfactory Mid campaign will boost the prospects of the Moyne Templetuohy ranks, but they will need a good showing in a tough opener against Gortnahoe Glengoole. The form of Conor Bowe and the return of Gearoid O’Connor will be key to their chances.

Key Player: Conor Bowe

Player to Watch: Cormac Deegan

14. Éire Óg Annacarty

Éire Óg will be buoyed by their West final triumph over newly promoted upstarts Golden Kilfeacle last weekend. Their experience made the difference in the end, but they may find it hard to maintain their challenge as the campaign goes on, given the age profile of their team.

Key Player: Tom Fox

Player to Watch: Darragh Kelly

15. Golden Kilfeacle

Positive signs for the Intermediate champions of 2025 thus far. The games in the West Championship will stand to them and give them a taste of this level, but the main goal for them this year will be survival. Anything thereafter will be a bonus for what is a young and exciting team.

Key Player: Jack Leamy

Player to Watch: Sam Hall

16. Sean Treacys

Old dogs for the hard road, Treacys have always found a way to get themselves out of a relegation scrap. They have a tricky group to contend with and will feel a lot of their hopes will hinge on the game against Moyne Templetuohy.

Key Player: Sean Ryan

Player to Watch: Colm Kennedy
