Watch Christmas in Tipperary: Nenagh gets into the spirit of the festive season

The Christmas spirit is already in full swing in Nenagh with the town's Christmas lights being switched on last Saturday by Nenagh Municipal District Council Cathaoirleach Cllr John Carroll.

As part of the event organised by the local council and Nenagh Chamber, children were treated to Santa while the adults were entertained by the Ormond Brass Band.

Meanwhile, Nenagh Chamber brought a very special visitor to Nenagh Castle with Santa and Mrs Claus arriving for their annual visit to the children of Nenagh.

Nenagh Chamber, along with a team of volunteers turned the castle and its grounds into a winter wonderland with reindeer, trees and festive lights over three days and nights.

The Chamber thanked Dave Green, Lisa McGeeney and Yvonne Kelly for providing the magic; Tipperary County Council and the OPW for allowing them access to the castle and for providing council funding; Denis Finnerty Pharmacy for decorations; Jodie Larkin of Jodie Larkin Designs for her designs; Tom and Trisha McKeogh, Willowbrook B&B, who organised the event with with Frank McGrath of The Food Hall, Virginia O'Dowd, and Michael McNulty.

They also thanked the students from St Mary's Convent Secondary School who dressed up as elves; DK Travel for offering their time to sell the tickets and JKC who assisted with wrapping the toys.

And, of course, they thanked the more than 100 families and hundreds of children who came to Nenagh to support this local effort.
