Darren Hassett

Darren Hassett

Darren Hassett has been Managing Editor of The Nationalist since 2020 and Regional Editor for Tipperary - editing The Nationalist and Tipperary Star - since 2021. 


He is also Digital Development Director for Iconic Media Group since 2023. 


Darren, who is a native of Boherlahan in county Tipperary, has a Master’s degree in Irish writing and film from University College Cork as well as a Master’s degree in journalism from Dublin City University. 


He graduated from NUI Maynooth in 2010 with a Bachelor’s degree in English and Geography. 


He has been working in national and local media in Ireland for over ten years.

Daniel Ryan

Daniel Ryan

Daniel is a multimedia journalist based in Nenagh, North Tipperary.


His background lies mainly in Public Relations, having spent 6 years prior to joining the Tipperary Star working in PR agencies across Ireland, the UK and in New York. 


Daniel holds a Masters degree in Public Relations from TUD as well as a Bachelor's Degree in English and Geography from UCD.


Since joining the Tipperary Star, he has settled well into his role as a journalist and covers a wide range of topics including local politics, community, arts, local authority, events and a particular focus on the Nenagh municipal district.

Enda Treacy

Enda Treacy

Enda is a qualified Journalist and obtained his Master's Degree from the University of Limerick in 2016.


A Tipperary native, he joined Iconic in 2021 as a Sports and Multimedia Journalist and has a keen interest in sports in Premier County, involved professionally and on a personal level with his local GAA club in Toomevara.


Enda has also contributed to the Tipperary Star as a news reporter and has become the main reporter of sport at the long-standing and popular newspaper.

Sean Ryan

Sean Ryan

Seán Ryan is a Multimedia Journalist based in Thurles, county Tipperary.


Seán has been working with the Tipperary Star since May 2024.


He graduated from University College Cork with a Bachelor of Arts in English and History, before going on to Munster Technological University, where he completed his Masters degree in Journalism and Digital Content Creation in 2022.


While doing his undergraduate degree, Seán was accepted into the Autosport Academy, a programme run by Autosport to train and give experience to young people looking to start careers in motorsport journalism.


After graduating from MTU, Seán would do some freelance work in motorsport, before joining the Tipperary Star team.

Eamon Wynne

Eamon Wynne

Eamonn Wynne has worked as a news and sports journalist for The Nationalist for more than four decades.


As a sports journalist he has reported on all sports in print and online, particularly Gaelic games, and covered Tipperary’s six most recent All-Ireland Senior Hurling Championship victories. 


He is the current Sports Editor with The Nationalist and in 2020 won Local Ireland’s national Sports Journalist of the Year award for his story on national girls boxing champion Leah O’Gorman.


As a news reporter he has reported on events in south Tipperary and further afield, including Kosovo, England, Italy and Belgium. 

Aoife Sheehan

Aoife Sheehan

Aoife Sheehan is a Multimedia Journalist based in South Tipperary.


A Kerry native, she has been working with The Nationalist since September 2024.


She graduated from the University of Limerick in 2020 with a Bachelor of Arts in Politics and International Relations, before going on to obtain a Masters degree from Munster Technological University in Journalism and Digital Content Creation.

Aileen Hahesy is a journalist at The Nationalist and covers general news, local authority issues, crime, health, education, community, arts and cultural events and stories from Carrick-on-Suir and its hinterland.

Eamon Lacey

Eamon Lacey

Eamon Lacey is an experienced news and sports journalist who joined the staff of The Nationalist in 1981.


He covers community events in south Tipperary that involve writing human interest stories, and general news stories on a range of topics including politics, health, education, crime, entertainment, cultural and heritage topics.

John Gleeson

John Gleeson

John Gleeson is a Multimedia Journalist at Iconic Media Group working specifically within the editorial department of the Tipperary Star. He holds a BA in Film and Screen Media with English Studies from University College Cork and an MSc in Digital Feature Film Production from the University of the West of Scotland. His student documentary Beautiful Boy was screened on RTÉ 2 and won Best Documentary at the Schull Film Festival (2017), while his master’s thesis project, the 7-episode comedy web series Follywood, is available on YouTube.
John has worked as a videographer and editor for Travelport and Lensmen Photography and Video Production Company, producing brand campaigns, marketing content, and corporate videos. He also gained on-set experience in the Locations Departments of feature films with Universal Pictures and The Walt Disney Company, coordinating logistics and supporting high-profile productions.
