Canon Ireland have announced the ‘Canon Young Fashion Photographer of the Year’ competition in association with Dublin Fashion Festival - organised by DublinTown, the Dublin Fashion Festival runs from September 7th to 13th and is a week-long celebration that brings a fashion festival fix to the streets of Dublin.
The ‘Canon Young Fashion Photographer of the Year’ competition is open to all budding photographers from around Ireland and aims to help amateur fashion photographers to gain experience and exposure in the fashion industry.
The winning photographer will receive €500 worth of Canon products and a money can’t buy experience at London Fashion Weekend in September - the winner will be flown to London courtesy of Canon Ireland where they will have the chance to photograph a fashion show featuring some of the best known labels and models in the fashion industry.
From all the entries received, the judges will shortlist a number of finalists and the winner will be announced at a special event on the 9th September at Bank of Ireland, College Green. This year’s judging panel includes top fashion photographer Barry McCall, fashion editor of the Irish Independent Bairbre Power and marketing manager of Canon Ireland Jonothan Sultan.
Interested photographers in Tipperary should submit up to five examples of their work via the Dublin Fashion Festival website www.dff.ie. All photographs submitted for judging cannot be published works and the photographer must not have received payment for it. Closing date for entries is 5pm on August 20th.
Commenting on the competition Jonothan Sultan, marketing manager, Canon Ireland said: “We are excited to launch the inaugural Canon Fashion Photographer of the Year competition. As Ireland’s number one imaging brand, we are passionate about educating the next generation of young photographers and this competition will provide budding photographers from all over Ireland with the opportunity to showcase their work to some of Ireland’s leading industry figures”.
