Independent TD Mattie McGrath has described the apparently chronic backlog of vehicles waiting for an NCT test at the centre in Cahir as another unnecessary burden imposed on the Irish motorist.

Deputy McGrath was speaking after being contacted by deeply concerned constituents who have been informed that despite the centre in Cahir working 7 days a week it will still takes months to get a booking.

There is clearly a need for additional facilities in Cahir and indeed for a wholesale review of the tortuous processes that motorists and vehicle users are being subjected too.
