Tipperary County Council launches grant to encourage people to shop local this Christmas

Businesses can avail of anywhere up to €3,000 to spend on promotions for the Christmas season

Tipperary businesses have until mid-October to apply for the programme designed to increase local spending in the county over the Christmas period

Tipperary County Council, in conjunction with Tipperary Local Enterprise Office, is inviting applications from Town Centre Teams, Trader Associations, Chambers of Commerce, Community Groups, Farmers Markets, Craft Markets or those involved in the Craft Sector under the Christmas Retail Support Programme. 

The grant scheme will provide support for towns and villages that have a retail/business presence to implement activities designed to enable increased spending or retaining spend in Tipperary’ towns and villages over the Christmas period. #

Grantees will be awarded a cash grant of between €300 and €3,000 to be spent on activities including advertising, promotions, street entertainment or other expenses for their Christmas events.

The applications will be assessed using the following criteria:
Collaboration – involvement of local people/stakeholders: 25%
Impact on town/village centre (programme of events): 20%
Out-Door Events: 20%
Retail Offering – (potential for retail sales): 15%
Promotional Plan: 10%
Quality of Application & matched budget: 5%
Capacity to deliver (previous experience): 5%

Emphasis is to be placed on projects and events that are versatile and innovative.

Applicants are required to be a member of Tipperary Public Participation Network (PPN), which is a database of all the active community and voluntary, social inclusion and environmental organisations in your area.

Organisations or groups interested in applying for the grant have until October 14, and the application form can be found here.
