Bunscoil na Cathrach teacher Fidelma Nugent, family members and staff came together last Wednesday to celebrate the start of a new chapter in the life of their dear colleague and friend as she embarks on her journey to becoming Doctor Nugent.

With a specially designed cake and delicious homemade delicacies, everyone present marked the special occasion and enjoyed some time along with a few stories of Fidelma's teaching years.

Fidelma has spent 21 years in her beloved role as a primary school teacher, which when you add it up, is close to 1,000 students who have been moulded by her kindness and dedication.

Fidelma's love of music was predominant throughout those years and she has shared her passion with all of her students.

Fidelma has been an integral part of the Cahir to Sing Choir and a regular at Rockwell Music Academy, as well as being a truly community minded lady, always willing to help out with any event.

Fidelma now turns her focus to her lifelong passion for music as she begins a PhD exploring Catholicism in the choral works of Olivier Messiaen and leaves Bunscoil Na Cathrach with many fond memories.
