Tipperary County Council has extended the duration of planning approval for a proposed new estate of 21 homes in Cahir with the developer informing the local authority of its intention to commence construction this year.
The Council approved Bretland Construction Limited’s application for a planning permission extension for the scheme of three-bedroom homes at Barnora, Cashel Road, Cahir on February 4.
The project involves building the houses in three terraced blocks along with roads, paths, paving, parking, drainage, landscaped public open space, street lighting and boundary treatments Cahir Valley Construction Limited was originally granted permission for the estate in April 2021.
The extension of duration application was submitted to the Council on January 19 as the five-year grant of permission is due to expire in April. In its application seeking a three-year extension of planning approval,
Bretland Construction said site clearance works and groundworks for the estate are expected to start early this year followed immediately by construction of the houses. The company expects the project to be completed within about a year of works commencing.
It explained work on starting the estate was initially delayed by “logistical constraints” created by the Covid pandemic. This was followed by a “feasibility issue” due to inflation caused by the war in Ukraine.
“More recently a change in ownership of Cahir Valley Homes led to a further delay in proceeding to site,” the company added.
