Tour de Cahir! Gardaí help schoolboys learn to cycle safely

Tour de Cahir - learning to cycle safely!

Gardaí in Cahir are bring praised this week for helping a group of local national school students to cycle to school.

As part of Community Safety Week in the town, local Garda Jenny Gough helped 30 students from Cahir Boys National School complete a bicycle awareness programme

They finished their learning with a  “Tour De Cahir” - photographs below.

The children learned about cycling in a busy town, safety clothing, checking their bikes, and how to give clear hand signals.

The young people were accompanied on their cycle by their Principal Brendan Hogan, Garda Diarmaid Moriarity and Garda Philip O'Sullivan. 

Tipperary Gardaí posted pictures of the cycle on social media and reaction has been positive, with one person saying it's an idea that should be taken up by every school.
