A cookery demonstration with chef Aisling Larkin (pictured) at Nell’s Farmhouse near Rathgormack on Sunday, July 9 is one of the Comeragh Wilds Festival's new events.
Several events on this year’s Comeraghs Wild programme have either sold out or are nearing capacity as visitors from all across the South East and beyond prepare to flock to the area for the four-day festival from July 6 to 9
The outdoor concert at Crotty’s Lake in the Comeragh Mountains near Rathgormack is nearing capacity tickets sales while the casual dining event at Emo and Ro in Kilmacthomas is now completely sold out, reports Comeraghs Wild Festival’s Director of Events, Bernadette Drohan.
“Never in the nine year history of Comeraghs Wild has there been such a positive response to our festival programme.
“We’ve added loads of new events this year, among them the dining experience in Kilmacthomas which has now sold out.
“Our advice to people who plan to attend events is to get their tickets now. Numbers at many events are limited because of venue or parking capacity.
“For others, we’ve put a cap on attendances to ensure people have an enjoyable, intimate experience.”
She adds: “Comeraghs Wild isn’t about making profit. It’s a community festival, organissed by volunteers. It’s all about showcasing the amazing natural and built amenities we have in this region, about celebrating our culture and traditions and enjoying a few well earned days and nights out in this varied and unspoilt region.”
New Events
Among the new events is an evening with chef and wellness advocate, Aisling Larkin. She will conjure up a modern dish featuring crispy, locally-sourced Comeragh Lamb from Willie Drohan’s flock at Nell’s Farmhouse near Rathgormack on Sunday, July 9.
The Festival, which features 40 events, opens with Little John Nee live in Portlaw. His unmissable show is set to be a huge hit.
Other events expected to sell out in the coming days include the Sunrise at the Steeple dawn walk, surfing in Bunmahon, sheep shearing in the Comeraghs, local film, The Dying Days, and the closing concert starring Gina & The Champions in Dungarvan.
New to the programme are Foraging and Forest Bathing from Crough Wood on Friday, July 7 at 2pm. There’s music and a barbecue at Crough Coffee on Saturday from 12 noon to 4pm.
Sunday’s Comeraghs Wild programme also includes Brunch & Music at Coach House Coffee in Kilmacthomas on Sunday, July 9 from 12 noon to 2pm.
