Camille Walsh, who plays the lead role of Rapunzel in the pantomime
Tickets are selling fast for Carrick-on-Suir Musical Society’s annual Halloween pantomime – Rapunzel Untangled – which opens at the Strand Theatre in two weeks time.
The new pantomime, written by Conor and Sandra Power, will be staged at the Strand from Wednesday, October 25 to Sunday, October 29.
There will be nightly shows from Wednesday to Saturday inclusive with two matinee performances on the Saturday and Sunday.
Rehearsals for the Society’s 128th production are reaching their climax this week as the large cast perfect their singing, dancing and acting for the show that promises plenty of slapstick comedy and a packed programme of well-known pop, rock and musical theatre songs.
Tickets for the panto went on sale online on Monday morning and the Strand Theatre Box Office is open three days this week and two days next week for ticket sales.
Carrick-on-Suir Musical Society PRO Caolan Deehy-Power reported a big demand so far for tickets with the Friday night performance already nearly sold out.
Rapunzel Untangled features a mix of Carrick Musical Society’s rising young stars and seasoned panto performers.
Camille Walsh plays the lead role of Rapunzel in the show while James Dooley will fill the shoes of the panto dame Mrs Browne.
Deckie Smith-Robinson and Ger Breen play Stan and Ollie while Maria Reyner takes on the role of Nanny McFlea.
Tarryn Atlee is cast as the evil Mother Gothel and Áine Fitzgerald is Alexa.
The show’s co-writer Sandra Power is also the director and Nicole Breen is the choreographer.
Siobhán Grace-Regan is the chorus mistress while Martin Morrissey is the production manager.
A large cast of children and teenagers, aged between 5 and 15, from Carrick-on-Suir Musical Society's Academy of Performing Arts will also perform in the panto.
Mr Deehy-Power, who plays the role of the King’s adviser Frank in the panto, said the 92-strong cast began rehearsing last month and preparations are very intense at the moment.
“There is great enthusiasm from all the cast. It will be a great show. It’s our main fundraiser for the year. The proceeds are used to pay for the Strand Theatre’s upkeep and mortgage,” he explained.
Night-time performances of Rapunzel Untangled begin at 7.30pm while the matinee shows start at 2.30pm.
