Carrick-on-Suir will celebrate the musical legacy of its most famous sons – the Clancy Brothers - with its annual festival of concerts, arts and community events over the June Bank Holiday Weekend.
The Clancy Brothers Music & Arts Festival will be officially opened by Carrick Municipal District Cathaoirleach Cllr Kieran Bourke at Brewery Lane Theatre this Wednesday, May 29 just before the start of the festival’s opening concert at the venue. Clancy Festival
Chairman Walter Dunphy encouraged the people of Carrick and surrounding communities to come out and support the festival’s many events ranging from concerts and a pub music trail to lunchtime drama, art exhibitions, nature and heritage walks.
The big community event is the Family Fun Day and Craft Fair in the Fairgreen Car Park on Sunday at 2pm.
“We hope we get good weather on Sunday and hope people will come out and enjoy the atmosphere,” he said. Mr Dunphy reported that the Clancy Family concert at Brewery Lane on Thursday night is sold out but there is still an opportunity to buy tickets for the opening night show and Eleanor Shanley concert at Brewery Lane on Sunday, June 2.
The Clancy Kitchen concert scheduled for the Strand Theatre on Saturday has been cancelled. To find out more about Clancy Festival events in Carrick-on-Suir this weekend log onto:www.clancybrothersfestival.com
