Brewery Lane Drama Group is not resting on its laurels and is planning to stage a Christmas play in early December hot on the heels of its successful production of Nobel Prize winning playwright Harold Pinter’s dark comedy – The Dumb Waiter.

The Liam Butler directed one-act drama about two hired killers, played by Colm Power and Barry Comerford, finished its eight night run at Brewery Lane Theatre on Saturday, October 26. The play set in a basement where the killers await their next job, was followed each night by performances of some of Pinter’s sketches by Brewery Lane actors.

The group is gearing up now to stage The Christmas Tree at Brewery Lane Theatre on Friday and Saturday, December 6 and 7.

Brewery Lane actors David Shee and Suzanne Shine are the cast members and Maria Clancy is the director.

As preparations get underway for this Christmas production, Waterford drama group Theatre Vamps will stage their original play “Deise Dogs” at Brewery Lane on Saturday, November 16 at 8pm.

The drama, written and directed by Derek Flynn, is described as “a heist comedy” set in Waterford City. It tells the story of three young Waterford lads in need of some quick cash who come up with a scheme to knock off one of Waterford City’s most iconic buildings.

The show show will be followed by tea/coffee in Brewery Lane’s tearooms. Tickets cost €16.50.
Tickets for Theatre Vamps can be booked online at www.ticketsource.eu/brewery-lane-theatre or by phoning the Theatre on 086 127 4736.

Friel play
Meanwhile, Brewery Lane Drama Group is also looking ahead to next year and has chosen Brian Friel’s play, The Loves of Cass McGuire, for its 2025 spring production.
