Educational success was celebrated in Carrick-on-Suir's Carraig Hotel as 186 graduates from the town's Tipperary ETB Further Education & Training Centre were honoured for their hard work and achievements with a presentation of certificates.
The Greenside based FET centre's class of 2024/2025 were commended on their hard work and successful achievements in their chosen courses covering adult literacy English reading, writing and speaking, BTEI Culinary, BTEI Horticulture & Engineering, VTOS Level 4 Employment Skills, Level 5 Business Studies, BTEI Level 5 Healthcare and the Failte Ireland National Tour Guide Badge.

The ceremony on November 19 was attended by Tipperary ETB Chairman Cllr Roger Kennedy who spoke highly of the students’ success and joined with the other speakers in congratulating them on their achievements.
Noel Colleran, Tipperary ETB Adult Education Officer, spoke of how Tipperary ETB cared deeply about students’ education and the important roles of the administration team, the caretakers and cleaners who all collectively contribute to the ‘heartbeat’ of the college.
South East Skills Forum Manager Edmond Connolly explained how the Forum has qualified designated people around the country to help employers upskill their staff.
He praised the wonderful community in Carrick and the opportunities available to study many subjects, upskill and also train through the apprenticeship programmes, which lead to lifelong careers.
He welcomed all who had come to Ireland and were learning English and bettering their literacy skills.
“It is great to see so many new faces from all around the world contributing to local society and the local community,” he said adding that employment in Carrick-on-Suir grew by 18% in five years.
A wonderful short speech from former student Blessing, who has moved away, was read out. She was praised for getting involved in the local community during her time in Carrick.
Ann Hickey who completed the Failte Ireland National Tour Guide course spoke of how after 40 years in finance she wanted a change. She said it was one of the best things she had ever done praising her tutor Kieran and all the friendly staff in the college.
FET Centre Manager Fiona Hennessy encouraged the public to consider looking at the huge selection of courses available at the college. She said the courses meet the needs of everyone walking through the door and emphasised the potential of career opportunities that can present with further study and learning.
