"Rocks are being thrown AGAIN at the motorway slip road" in the busy Tipperary tourism town of Cashel as one local councillor voices his concerns over a burgeoning number of reports around anti-social behaviour.

Cllr Liam Browne said: "Just to keep people updated regarding reports of serious anti-social/criminal behaviour that is being reported in various areas around town and the surrounding areas.

"I have been getting various reports, from different areas in town, and am putting these together to deliver to An Garda Síochána.

"I am hoping in the near future, I can organise a meeting with the relevant gardaí, hopefully that can be attended by members of the public, so they can air their various concerns.

"This I think is vital, to impress upon Garda Management the need for a much greater garda presence in the town, and as the new station is being built, for a much greater presence once the renovations have taken place, and not simply reverting to previous hours, when the station was barely open.

"In the past few days, I have gotten reports of rocks being thrown once again at the motorway slip road, theft from local shops, break ins and attempted break ins of cars in many areas of the town, damage being done to the playground on Friar Street, people being afraid of break ins to their homes and properties in various areas.

"I understand that this might be a cause of frustration to people, but I do not want to have comments made, be used to interfere with any current or future criminal investigation.

"This is simply a public advice notice, that as a local representative, I am aware of the behaviours, and I intend to get the proper authorities to take the appropriate action to try to stop it happening."

Cllr Browne added: "If anyone has evidence of criminal behaviour or anti social behaviour, please contact the gardaí in Cahir or Clonmel and have the report logged, as I want to build up a profile of contact to gauge the full extent of the problem.

"Ordinary decent people should not have to put up with this. We are entitled to safety, security, and peace.

"I will try as best I can, to help in that regard

"This will be a priority for me and my term. The buck has to stop somewhere."
