Cllr Ryan's notice received a reply, which stated: "An Garda Síochána, as the Road Traffic Authority has the ultimate responsibility for speed control enforcement.

"Before implementing any traffic calming measures, it is essential to confirm the existence of a speeding issue. This involves a structured approach, beginning with a speed survey and consultation with An Garda Síochána where necessary. This will be followed by the installation of a temporary speed indicator signage and ongoing monitoring to access whether the issue persists.
