LATEST: Uisce Éireann working on restoring water supply in Tipperary

Uisce Éireann is advising customers in parts of Clonmel of water outages following an interruption to the water supply at Glenary Water Treatment Plant overnight caused by operational issues at the plant.

As a result, reservoir levels dropped impacting on supply to customers across the town.

Operational teams are working to restore supply, but reservoir levels remain low and will take some time to recover.

As a result, customers will experience no water or low pressure. Normal supply is expected to be restored by 11am on Thursday, October 23.

The areas affected include Elm Park, Haywood Road, Glenconnor, Cherrymount, Ballingranne, Powerstown Road, Silver Spring, Clonmel Town Centre and surrounding areas.

Alternative water supplies will be available today at the following locations:

Poppys Field, Cashel Road Clonmel;
Civil Defence Firestation, Heywood Road;
Tesco Car Park, Clonmel By Pass.

Customers are reminded to use their own containers when taking water from the tanker and to boil water before consumption as a precautionary measure, as per advice from the Health Service Executive.

Uisce Éireann’s John Fogarty acknowledged the ongoing impact caused by the outage to parts of Clonmel.

"Uisce Éireann would like to apologise to all customers who are experiencing an interruption to their supply and would like to reassure them that we are working hard to resolve the issue," he said.
