Clonmel Credit Union has today reported another year of strong performance and member engagement, with assets exceeding €292M.

Throughout 2025, the credit union issued €43.7 million in loans, growing its total loan book to €90.4 million. Growth areas include mortgages with 68 home loans approved. There was also continued momentum in Agri and SME lending. 37 businesses investing €3.5 million in local firms, directly supporting 250 regional jobs.

Membership continued to grow, with 1,138 new members joining in 2025, bringing the total to 32,485.

Beyond lending, 2025 was an important year for community investment and education. The Credit Union supported a variety of sports, charitable, cultural and wellbeing initiatives across the county, as well as sponsoring an event that raised over €40,000 for the Dillon Quirke Foundation, supporting necessary youth cardiac screening and awareness programmes nationwide.

A number of new and expanded initiatives were launched during the year, including the second year of the third-level student bursary programme, the introduction of CPD financial expertise days for local businesses, and the launch of the Horizons Programme, a new financial literacy and leadership initiative for Transition Year students across South Tipperary.

2025 saw almost €500,000 distributed through financial support to its members, local organisations and community clubs, including over €321,000 distributed through member prize draws in 2025 and the inaugural Blue Monday giveaway.

Last year, Fidelma Fitzgerald of Killenaule was announced as the Blue Monday prize winner and received an incredible €50,000 boost in January 2025. Clonmel Credit Union has confirmed that a second Blue Monday giveaway will take place on Monday, 19 January 2026.

Speaking on the announcement, Pádraig Enright, CEO of Clonmel Credit Union, said, “Everything we do is led by members' feedback and the needs of communities across South Tipperary and beyond. As a community-owned financial institution, our role goes far beyond banking. We are investing in local businesses, supporting farming families, backing community organisations, and investing in future generations through education and financial literacy. It is our responsibility to pave the way for the next generation and do what we can to enhance the social and economic life of the communities we serve.
