New analysis from insurance comparison site Chill Insurance reveals major differences in the provision of electric vehicle (EV) infrastructure across Irish counties, and places Tipperary in the top ten counties on the list.
To uncover Ireland’s EV charging hotspots, insurance comparison site Chill Insurance analysed the number of public charging spots across the country, identifying the most efficient locations for drivers looking to power up.
In joint sixth place on the list with Mayo and Longford, is Tipperary which offers 1.3 chargers per 10,000 people. The county’s growing infrastructure ensures that EV drivers have access to essential charging points, supporting adoption in both residential and commercial areas.

Topping the list, Westmeath offers the highest number of public EV chargers per capita in Ireland, with 2.2 chargers for every 10,000 people. This strong density ensures that residents have excellent access to charging infrastructure, making EV ownership more convenient and practical across the county.
The Irish Government is continuing to support EV uptake, with €3,500 grants and €600 home-charging subsidies.
However, despite the above statistics, rural car owners may still find it difficult to charge an electric vehicle, even in some counties in the top ten list.
