Lisa Millerick is South Tipperary's representative in the 2024 Blue Jean Country Queen Festival organized by Meath Macra na Feirme in collaboration with the community of Athboy.

The 23 young women contesting the event will be arriving in Athboy, Co. Meath for this year's festival on Friday, 31 May.

Meath Macra na Feirme and the people of Athboy have planned a huge array of events to entertain visitors for the entire weekend, including two free family fun days, a free BBQ, karaoke, and a weekend full of nighttime entertainment.

Entries this year come from Macra regions all over the country, as well as a Queen from Latvia.

Lisa and the other twenty-two expected Queens will arrive in Athboy on Friday, 31st May. She will, over the course of the bank holiday weekend, have an experience like no other.

To acclimatize, she will first attend a fun team-building exercise at Causey Farm with all her fellow Queens. After that, she will meet her local host family, with whom she will stay for the entire weekend.

The festival will officially start on Friday evening with a pub crawl through Athboy.

Lisa Millerick is a member of Fethard Macra and is a microbiology laboratory technician.

Her hobbies include basketball, which she played throughout secondary school and college, and traveling to new places, immersing herself in new cultures, and trying new things. She is also the county treasurer and club secretary for the last two years.

Lisa enjoys baking and cooking, recently started making her own butter from milk in the bulk tank, and loves outdoor activities like gardening, hiking, and farming. Lisa visited 12 cities in 12 months last year and aims to visit 30 countries before turning 30.

Like her parents, who met in Macra, Lisa also met her boyfriend Tom through the organization.

It's an early start for Lisa on Saturday, as the Queens will have their private interviews with the judges in the morning.

That afternoon, she and her fellow Queens will enjoy festival main sponsor Athboy Credit Union's annual Family Fun Day and BBQ before heading to Floods Bar for karaoke until the early evening.

That night, Lisa Millerick will have her public interview in the Darnley Lodge Hotel with iRadio DJ Conor Woods and get a chance to party with Rhythm and Sticks followed by DJ Conor Woods.

Sunday morning, Lisa Millerick and her fellow Queens will march through the main street of Athboy towards the Fair Green for the Lark in the Park, a free family fun day with children's entertainment, live music, food stalls, and a Toy Tractor Run where each child entered has the chance to win a ride-on John Deere Gator sponsored by Meath Farm Machinery Ltd.

The Queens will get the day officially underway with a Barbenheimer-themed fancy dress football match, as the Queens play out last summer's biggest movie battle – Barbie vs. Oppenheimer on the football field.

That night, the Queens will change out of their fancy dress and into formal wear to join sponsors, committee members, and other dignitaries for the Gala Banquet in the Darnley Lodge Hotel.

Once the banquet has concluded, the Queens will do another quick change back into their jeans and gather to find out who will be crowned the 2024 Blue Jean Country Queen before dancing the night away to The Druids followed by Conor Woods.

The entire weekend is mostly about having a bit of craic, but there is a prize to be won as well. The 2024 Blue Jean Country Queen will receive a tiara, golden sash, and perpetual cup presented to her by the 2023 Queen, Niamh Sheehy from Kilkenny.

The 1st prize winner will also receive €1000 from Athboy Credit Union, while the 2nd prize receives €500 from Turmec Recycling, and the 3rd prize €300 from Farrelly Tree Service Ltd.
