The long-awaited extension of Fethard's Calvary Cemetery is expected to open by the end of March or soon after, a council official informed Carrick-on-Suir Municipal District’s monthly meeting.

Michael Moroney of Tipperary County Council’s Environment & Climate Action Section said the cemetery extension was expected to open at the end of the first quarter of this year or shortly after.

He said the council had to ensure “all the i's were dotted and all the t's crossed” before opening the extension.

The 997 plot lawn cemetery extension has been developed on a 2.4 acres site at Killenaule Road, Fethard, which is north of the existing Calvary Cemetery.
