Carrick Swan and Killenaule will need no introductions when they meet in Saturday evening’s Clonmel Oil South Tipperary Senior Hurling Championship final at 6.30 at Clonmel Sportsfield.

This will be the third year in a row that the clubs have met in the division’s hurling showpiece. Holders Swan won last year’s decider by 3-19 to 1-16, while Killenaule were successful in 2023, winning by 1-20 to 2-16.

Swan, who have the most senior titles in the division, will be trying to win the championship for the 26th time and will be looking to players including county panellists Aaron and Gavin O’Halloran, sharpshooter Callum Lanigan, Callum Walsh, Ben Mulcaire, Eric O’Halloran, Dean Waters and Stefan Tobin to get them across the line.

They beat Mullinahone in the semi-final by 1-23 to 1-15.

Killenaule are second in the roll of honour in the division and will be bidding to win the title for the 24th time.

Their hopes will likely rest on the performances of former county star John ‘Bubbbles’ O’Dwyer, who has converted into a free-taking, point-scoring goalkeeper; as well as Killian O’Dwyer, Paudie Feehan, Eoin O’Connell and freetaker Luke Ryan.

They ran up the same score, 1-23, as Swan, when beating St. Mary's (who scored 1-18) in the other semi-final.

A large attendance is expected at the hurling showpiece of the year in the division.
