Here's how Mattie McGrath has performed in previous General Elections:

2020 (Tipperary five-seater) - Elected to second seat on the eighth count with 9,321

2016 (Tipperary five-seater) - Elected to second seat on count four with 13,064 votes

2011 (Tipperary South three-seater) - Elected to third seat on count five with 9,978

First elected to the Dáil in 2007 as a Fianna Fáil TD changed to Independent in 2010

Based on the tallies for 2024, the Independent candidate is likely to top the poll with almost 9,733 first preference votes (24.5%).

The projected quota is 10,311 and the first count is expected around 8pm.
