St Patrick's Day parade will draw the crowds
The parade committee have been busy preparing over the last few months in Thurles.
Many local businesses, clubs, schools and residents associations amongst others will participate in the parade which is expected to draw big crowds into the town on the day.
The theme of this year's event is – Past Present & Future - and is open to interpretation by each club or organisation.
The parade will assemble at Abbey Road, Thurles at 1.45pm at Jysk Store and leave at 2.15pm while the Reviewing Stand will be situated outside McMahons and Scoil Angela Primary school.
This year 2023, to mark the return of a live parade, the 1st Prize will be €1,000 for the best overall winner.
John Kinehan is one of the chief organizers of the parade and says a super day can be expected:
"We will be at Liberty Square at 2.30pm led by the 3rd Infantry Battalion Reserve army members led by Captain Gearoid O Regan and then the Sean Treacy Pipe Band from Moycarkey.
"We will have two very inspirational guests present on the day, two young extraordinarily brave siblings Micháel Bourke and Katie Butler Haughney from Tipperary who rescued their two-year old brother Daniel from a waterhole on February 11, 2020.
"The parade will head towards the Castle then in Liberty Square, so it should be a wonderful day. If there are groups on the day that would like to enter they are welcome to partake too."
