Players to watch in this year's club hurling championship who could make Tipp step up

2. Jake Ryan (Toomevara)

A shot from left field as the Toomevara man has never represented Tipperary at any level coming up through the grades, but is as fine a defender as there is around at the present time in the club game.

The 24-year-old has been a mainstay in the Greyhounds' full-back line and is generally the player chosen to man-mark the best opposition forward. His pace is unbelievable, with an incredible athleticism to boot, and given Tipperary's lack of depth in the full-back line, he would be a player that could be a nice addition to the panel.

He is returning this weekend after a short spell on the sidelines, but he certainly has the fitness, physique, and attitude to make it at senior level.
