A woman caught stealing bottles of alcohol and groceries from two supermarkets pleaded to the offences at Nenagh District Court.
Kathleen Joyce, 33, of Bellcamp Crescent, Priors Wood, Dublin 17, pleaded guilty to theft at Dunnes Stores, Roscrea, on September 24, 2022 and Tesco in Thurles on May 12, 2022.
She stole two bottles of vodka valued at €60 in the first incident and groceries worth €200 in the second.
None of the items was recovered in either case.
Ms Joyce had 45 previous convictions, 13 of which were for theft.
Counsel for the defendant said Ms Joyce wanted to apologise and had gathered compensation for the injured parties.
She could not explain why she committed the offences.
Ms Joyce had the responsibility of bringing up five children on her own.
Judge Elizabeth MacGrath wanted to know why Ms Joyce was in Roscrea and Thurles. She was informed that the defendant was visiting her sister in Templemore.
The judge imposed a fine of €100 and granted leave to appeal.
