The Tipperary U20 hurlers will have a new coach in place in the coming weeks with the news that former All-Ireland winning Tipp hurler Paddy Stapleton will replace his Golden Kilfeacle namesake Shane in the role ahead of the 2024 campaign.
After an ultimately disappointing end to this year's Munster campaign in the semi-final loss to Clare in FBD Semple Stadium back in May, Tipperary U20 boss Brendan Cummins has looked to freshen things up in his setup, with Shane Stapleton departing from the role of coach after a two-year involvement.
And Cummins has apparently ended his search for a replacement as Borris-Ileigh's Paddy Stapleton will take on the role for the coming year.
A double All-Ireland senior medalist in 2010 and 2016, Stapleton has experience with various Tipperary development squads in recent years in a coaching capacity, and with his pedigree on the field in Borris-Ileigh and Tipperary colours during his playing days, it is certainly an appointment that will be interesting to keep track of next year.
The addition of Stapleton as coach will be ratified in the coming weeks, and may even be confirmed at tonight's (Thursday) overdue county board meeting in Thurles if it comes up on the agenda.
