Renewed call for Tipperary County Council to purchase Thurles hotel

Munster Hotel, Thurles

Councillor Seamus Hanafin has renewed his call for Tipperary County Council to purchase the Munster Hotel site in Thurles.

During a discussion on the project pipeline at this week’s sitting of Thurles-Templemore Municipal District Council, Cllr Hanafin welcomed the extension of the car park lease.

However, he said the council need to consider the “entirety of the site.”

“It is a very important site in the town, and it is very unsightly,” said Cllr Hanafin.

District Engineer Thomas Duffy said negotiations with the owner are ongoing.

“We will see where that takes us,” said Mr Duffy.
