Old telephone kiosks are removed from the streets of this Tipperary town

The old phone kiosk was removed from Gladstone Street in Clonmel

Cllr Siobhán Ambrose has welcomed the commencement of the removal of the old Eircom telephone kiosks from the streets of Clonmel.

These telephone kiosks are owned by a private company and work has commenced to remove them.

According to Cllr Ambrose, "I have been raising this issue for several years now following representations from local businesses in the proximity of these telephone boxes.

"This project had been held up, as the company wanted to instal new telephone kiosks before removing the unwanted telephone boxes.

"I agree that it's important to have one or two telephone kiosks, as not everyone has a mobile phone and it is also important for emergency calls, but it is great to also see the removal of the derelict phone boxes".

Cllr Ambrose thanked the current and the last three District Administrators in Clonmel who had been working on this project with her.
