Don Quill's Captain's Prize weekend got underway on Friday, August 2, just before lunch, with Vincent O'Brien and John Mitchell as the first group to take to the course.
The live leaderboard on the Club V1 app was a welcome addition this year, along with the leaderboard on display in the clubhouse, which added to the excitement.
After day one, Gavin McLoughlin was leading the way with a 71 nett, setting the pace.
With the course in excellent condition and the weather gods on our side, scoring went lower on Saturday.
It was club president, Francis McCarthy, and Declan Lonergan who jumped to the front of the field, both players shooting 65 nett.
Michael Hickey was two back on 67.
Play continued on Sunday with lots of wind, and the lads remained on top.
People started to gather after 3pm on Sunday with the playoff getting underway at 4pm.
Throughout the weekend, the players enjoyed a BBQ on the 10th tee and a meal after play.
A credit to the groundskeepers, the course was well presented.
Don would also like to thank Paul and his staff in the Pro Shop, Kate in the office, the men's committee, and the competitions committee and all who played a part in making it a special weekend.
Once the golf concluded, everyone enjoyed finger food and entertainment in the clubhouse along with the presentation.
