Busy times at Premier Credit Union as the local community benefits hugely

It’s been an eventful period for Premier Credit Union, marked by its first-year anniversary celebrations, key retirements, notable milestones, and preparations for the upcoming AGM in late January.

Premier Credit Union recently celebrated the first anniversary of its rebranding with a special members’ morning. The event featured festive carol singing by the talented students and teachers of Scoil Bhríde, spreading joy to all who attended.

Scoil Bhríde also helped launch the annual Credit Unions of Tipperary calendar, a cherished initiative that Premier Credit Union has proudly supported for over twenty years.

This year, in partnership with other local credit unions, funds are being collected via voluntary donations for hospice care. The combined effort aims to culminate in a presentation to the hospice on Daffodil Day next March.

CEO Brian King praised the initiative, saying: “This is a fantastic example of the collective spirit of our credit unions. The support from the community has been phenomenal, and we are deeply grateful for everyone’s generosity.”

Brian King also credited former director Tom Noone for his invaluable contributions to the calendar project over the years. “Tom’s dedication has been instrumental in making this initiative a success year after year,” he said.

The morning’s celebrations also included a lively performance by the Thurles Panto Society. As one of the main sponsors of the Panto’s annual production, this year’s “Rapunzel,” Premier Credit Union is proud to support such a cherished local tradition and encourages everyone to enjoy the show.

As the year draws to a close, Premier Credit Union bid farewell to two valued team members. Breda Wade retired after an impressive 27 years of service.

“Breda was always welcoming and supporting members with her warmth and professionalism,” said Brian King. Similarly, Ena MacMahon, the branch lead for Roscrea, retired after a distinguished career of dedication and volunteerism embodying the true spirit and values of the credit union.

“Ena’s contributions have left an enduring legacy, and she will be greatly missed by members and colleagues alike,” the CEO added.

Congratulations are also extended to Michelle McCormack and Ursula Maher, who recently celebrated 30 and 35 years of service, respectively. Their milestones highlight the depth of experience and loyalty within the Premier Credit Union team.

As Premier Credit Union prepares for its AGM in late January, CEO Brian King shared his reflections on the past year and optimism for the future. “2024 has been a fantastic year for us.

“Our loan book has grown significantly, and we’ve introduced new products and services to offer greater convenience to our members. We also hope to have exciting news next year about introducing a mortgage product, which will provide even more options to those we serve.”

In addition to its business successes, Premier Credit Union remains deeply committed to supporting the local community.

Over the Christmas season, the credit union donated over €5,000 to groups like St Vincent de Paul, helping them continue their vital work. “We firmly believe in giving back,” Brian King emphasised.

“Our community is at the core of everything we do, and we are proud to support organizations that make a real difference in people’s lives.”
