The Mid-Tipperary GAA awards are always a fantastic occasion and this year was no exception with Loughmore-Castleiney taking home the bulk of the awards on Saturday night at ‘Revel at The Ragg’.

Loughmore Castleiney won the Club of the Year award after winning ‘the double’ last season as well as winning the Mid-Tipperary senior hurling title and the Cahill cup.

Loughmore chair Joe Ryan collected the award on behalf of the club. John McGrath won the Hurler Of The Year award while his cousin Liam McGrath won the Footballer Of The Year award.

Eoin O’Connell, also from Loughmore took home the Young Footballer Of The Year of the year award in football while Holycross Ballycahill defender Jim Ryan secured the Young Hurler Of The Year award, the third winner-in-a-row from his club.

Catherine Dunne has given great service as Secretary of the Board and her contribution was recognised on the night.
Due to having completed five years in the role has stepped down now but she was on hand to collect the Mid Intermediate Club of the year on behalf of Moyne Templetuohy.

The hall of Fame award is a very special one that has been collected by the likes of Tony Wall and Willie Fogarty over the years.
This year JK Brackens stalwart Martin Bourke collected the award from his namesake - Martin Bourke - who hails from the Boherlahan Dualla club.

There was a strong contingent on hand from ‘the Brackens’ and he was a very popular winner for his contribution to GAA over many decades through his efforts with JK Brackens, Templemore Camogie club, penning numerous books and he also was the first captain from Templemore to collect the Harty cup when he captained the CBS to the title in 1978.

Local referees were honoured also for their contribution to the games.

On the night the PRO Mark Dunne was a very capable MC and chairman Martin Bourke presented the awards. It was a fantastic evening honouring the achievements of local sports folk. Mid-Tipperary GAA continues to be at the forefront of sport in the county.
