As a precautionary measure during the works, a Boil Water Notice will be imposed to protect public health. The utility said the notice will allow for the continuation of a stable water supply while repairs are being carried out.
The Boil Water Notice is due to begin at 9am on Tuesday, January 20. It will remain in effect for several weeks, pending the completion of the works and the receipt of satisfactory water quality test results.
Uisce Éireann has stressed that the notice will not apply to all customers connected to the Ironmills supply. Changes to the configuration of the local water network have been made to limit the number of customers affected.
Areas included in the notice are Cappawhite, Annacarthy, Donohill, Toem, Glengar, Soloheadbeg and Kingswell. Parts of Monard and Solohead are also affected, along with the townlands of Rathnaveen, Kingswell and Greenrath and nearby areas.
During the period of the Boil Water Notice, water should be boiled before it is used for drinking, brushing teeth, preparing salads or other foods that are not cooked prior to consumption, and for making ice. Uisce Éireann has advised that ice should only be made using water that has been boiled and allowed to cool.
