Prof Colette Cowan, left, CEO UL Hospitals Group, and Niamh O’Grady, Operational Services General Manager, presents a donation to Kieran O’Brien, Pieta House Mid West
UL Hospitals Group has made donations totaling over €5,000 to two local charities.
The Group was delighted to hand over the proceeds of the 2017 Christmas Fair to Pieta House (€4313) and to Friends of Ghana (€1073).
Pieta House provides specialist treatment to people at risk of suicide and self-harm in the Mid West and around the country.
Friends of Ghana is an NGO involving UL Hospitals staff, students and staff at the University of Limerick and Ghana Medical Help working in the west African nation to provide life-saving skills to health workers.
The Christmas Fair is one of the main fundraising events of the year at UHL. The fair is run by the Operational Services Directorate and displays the creativity and skills of many staff as well as local craft suppliers. Every year staff and patients enjoy the festive spirit it brings to UHL.
The hospital group will continue its fundraising efforts for these charities later in the summer with its annual 5km run/walk around Dooradoyle.
