There may still be traces of snow on the hills but Summer Time officially starts this weekend!
Summer Time, or 'Daylight Saving Time,' will begin at 1am on Sunday, March 25.
(For those of you keeping note, it will end at 2am on Sunday, October 28!)
The change to Summer Time will give us an extra hour of daylight in the evenings, even if it does mean losing an hour of sleep on Sunday morning!
We have all been caught out by the change at some time (remember arriving to Sunday mass as a child only to be greeted by an empty church?) Thankfully now most of us have phones, clocks and watches that connect to the internet they update automatically.
Daylight Saving Time (DST) was created by William Willett in 1907 in a bid to stop people wasting valuable hours of light in the summer months.
Germany adopted his clock-changing plan in April 1916, Britain followed suit one month later in May 1916.
Ireland adopted Summer Time in 1923. However between 1968 and 1971 we dropped the practice as an experiment to keep the same hours as other countries in Europe.
