The Fogarty family from Templemore getting ready for the cycling leg of the Try a Tri
Over 140 men, women and children enjoyed the 2018 Nenagh Lions Club Try a Tri in support of Nenagh Olympic AC and in conjunction with National Bike Week.
In this unique community event, participants swam, cycled and ran their way to the finish line at Nenagh CBS.
Jim “Cutter” Ryan was the oldest Tryatrier, doing the swim part of a relay, whilst Paudi Kennedy completed the full event.
Some of the younger guns loved the challenge of the Sprint Tri, led by John Coughlan and Collette Quigley.
Newcomers the Healy’s knocked the Kynes off their Fittest Family perch.
Best individuals were Luke Purcell and Mary Gavin; U18s were headed by Darragh O’Neill and Grace Cleary, also including a personal best from Vinnie Graham.
First in the Try a Tri relay were the O’Neill team and Murphy / Delaney / Walsh (Sprint).
The evening was rounded off by a very enjoyable BBQ at Una Powells.
Nenagh Triathlon Club, Nenagh Leisure Centre and Irish Red Cross did a super organisational job.
Try a Tri 2018 was supported by main sponsors A Sportsman’s Dream, with supporting sponsors Nenagh Credit Union, Pat Griffin Accountants, Una Powells and Carey Glass.
