TCIL funds Tipperary Warriors Club's new equipment

The Tipperary Centre for Independent Living has provided much needed funding for the recently formed Tipperary Warriors club, which provides a sporting platform for children with disabilities in the county.
TCIL, which was formed in the mid 1990's, is a service provider to the HSE and employs in the region of 120 people on a part time basis throughout the county, providing between 25,000 and 30,000 hours per annum to the disability sector.
Chairman of TCIL Cllr Seamus Hanafin told members of the Tipperary Warriors that sport is all about integration and being involved in a team in order to enjoy the experience.
“What you are doing with Tipperary Warriors is helping to create team skills that will stand to your members throughout their lives. What you are doing is absolutely fantastic and you certainly have a friend in TCIL,” he said.
Chairperson of Tipperary Warriors Orla Donovan thanked TCIL for their generosity in helping to purchase the ten new sports wheelchairs and Paul Ryan of the Irish Wheelchair Association remarked on the huge strides made by the club in the last year. “There was nothing like this in Tipp twelve months ago and the progress you have made has ensured a lot of possibilities going forward. You have received a great headstart with this equipment and we look forward to seeing it making a big difference. There are other clubs throughout the country and they have been working hard to get off the ground too, but you have leap frogged them with this equipment and it is fantastic to see,” he said.
