Councillors at last week's sitting of Tipperary County Council have been told that the government is considering introducing 30km speed limits in towns and villages nationally.
Councillor Mairin McGrath asked the council to review the speed limits.
However, the council say they are awaiting the decision made by the government, which may require a change in by-laws.
They also said that if such a decision were made, it would be welcome.
