Head Groundsman at racecourse in Tipperary honoured on his retirement

The Head Groundsman at Powerstown Park Racecourse in Clonmel, Tom Kelly, has retired and was honoured for his 37 years’ service (24 as head groundsman) at the annual Bulmers Summer Barbecue Meeting.

Racecourse Manager DJ Histon wished Tom well in his retirement.

Mr Histon stated, “He was held in high regard by the Clerk of the Course Lorcan Wyer and his work has always been exemplary”.

Tom was given a fitting send-off by his colleagues and racegoers at his final meeting.
