Cashel 58 Youghal 14
Cashel’s Junior 1 team had a facile victory over Youghal on Sunday last in the Munster Junior Plate semi- final.
In a game played in breezy and sunny conditions, it took Cashel ten minutes to break down the Youghal defence. From a lineout maul Brendan Crosse touched down for the first try, which Dan O’Neill converted.
Six minutes later Michael Hickey sold them all a dummy and waltzed in for a try. Dan O’Neill converted. He added a penalty on 32 minutes. Cashel scored a further try before half-time, credited to Michael McCormack.
The half-time score was Cashel 34 Youghal 0.
From the kick-off, Cashel went on the attack. Brendan Crosse touched down for his hat-trick of tries. Dan O’Neill converted. Youghal got on the scoresheet with an excellent converted try on 55 minutes.
Jack O’Rourke made it 39-7 two minutes later. Lee McCarthy and Aidan O’Connor added two more tries.
Youghal also added a converted try before the end. The final score was Cashel 58 Youghal 14.
Cashel will now play St Senan’s of Shannon in the final on a date that has yet to be confirmed.
