Thurles students design app to make public transport easier for people with accessibility needs

Pres Thurles TY Students, Áine Devitt and Anna Furno, at the BD STEM STars Final at the BD Research Centre Ireland in Limerick last week.

Well done to our two TY students, Anna Furno and Áine Devitt, who took part in the final of the BD sponsored STEM Stars event at the BD Research Centre in Castletroy last week.

The girls proudly represented our school and performed very well in front of the judges.

The girls’ project centred around developing an app called ‘Travelable’ – an app to make public transport reservations easier for people with accessibility needs. The girls also had a very enlightening tour of the BD RCI Biomedical Engineering labs – it was very impressive.

It is important that girls get involved in STEM-related projects and activities.

We are very proud of Anna and Áine
