A rainy afternoon didn’t dampen the spirit of fun at Owning House Retirement Village’s garden party.
The event that took place on Sunday, July 30, was the first fundraising garden party for the retirement village at Owning near Carrick-on-Suir since before the Covid-19 pandemic.
“Despite the rain, we had a fantastic afternoon and thank you so much to all who came to support us,” said Owning House Retirement Village manager Eddie Reade.
He specially thanked the event’s wonderful Master of Ceremonies Pilot Conway and also the hard working committee, residents and volunteers who made everything run like clockwork.
And he paid tribute to the retirement village’s dedicated staff, who, he said, went above and beyond what is expected.
“We had many stalls with fruit and vegetables, home made cakes, buns, bread, scones, jam and strawberries and cream.
“Another stall showcased beautifully engraved slate pieces, by the talented Ian Brennan, and an assortment of bric-a-brac for sale was also popular.
“The spinner with many prizes and the Monster Raffle were generously supported as children enjoyed the face painting. A massive thank you one and all,” Mr Reade added.
Meanwhile, the Annual General Meeting of Owning House Retirement Village takes place in the main house on Wednesday, August 23 at 7.30pm.
The retirement village is a fully community based charity.
Those involved in running it would love to see as many local people as possible attend the AGM and offer their opinions, voice concerns or volunteer to get involved in assisting with retaining this fantastic facility for elderly people long into the future.
