Cllr. Siobhan Ambrose was elected as Chairperson of the County Tipperary Joint Libraries Committee for 2013/2014 at an historic meeting of the committee held in Thurles.

Siobhan will be the final chairperson of the committee, which was formed in 1927.

The committee will be abolished next year as part of the reform of local government.

The committee is the only public service that is countywide.

From next year Tipperary’s libraries will be the same as every other library authority in Ireland and will come under the control of the new municipal districts.

Clonmel Fianna Fail Councillor Siobhan Ambrose is a former Mayor of Clonmel.

She is a member of both Clonmel Borough Council and South Tipperary County Council.
