Megan Boland, of the Ursuline class of 2023, is this year’s recipient of the Dr Aisling Butler Memorial Bursary.
Megan, who is currently studying Medicine in Trinity College Dublin, was presented with a commemorative certificate of achievement by Dr Aisling’s parents John and Evelyn Butler on Tuesday, 24 October.

Megan thanked the Butler’s for their generosity in dedicating this bursary in their daughter’s memory.

She told them that as a First Year student in the Ursuline she was inspired to aim for a career in medicine after hearing them speak about Aisling’s dedication to and passion for her chosen profession.

Dr Aisling Butler was a past pupil of the Ursuline Secondary School who died tragically in the Air France crash when returning from a holiday in Brazil in the company of two friends.

John and Evelyn Butler spoke about how the bursary has helped to keep Dr Aisling’s memory alive in the hearts and minds of all those students who benefited from this very special grant over the last decade.

They are grateful that so much good has been done in their daughter’s memory and that Dr Aisling’s legacy has been to motivate other young women to strive for excellence as she did in her life.
