Rarely challenged in one-on-one situations, Maher dealt well with Jason Flynn for the most part during the game and cleaned up a lot of possession around the 14-yard line as he looks more and more settled at number three.
The way Galway played suited this year’s team captain with a lot of direct ball going into him and that is meat and drink to the Thurles Sarsfields man. A run out at number three against Limerick in a few weeks will pose a different challenge to him.
