Court told man who stole mobile phones from Tipperary store has been barred from shop

A man who stole two mobile phones from Tesco in Roscrea was subsequently barred from the premises, Judge Elizabeth MacGrath heard at Nenagh District Court.

James McInerney of 2 Carden Court, Templemore, pleaded to the theft of a phone valued at €69 from the store on September 27, 2019.

He pleaded to taking a second phone valued at €89 from the same store on October 10, 2019.

The court heard that compensation had been paid.

Mr McInerney’s solicitor, David Peters, told the court that his client was 32 years old and had six children, one of which had additional needs.

“He was barred from Tesco in 2019 and has not been back in the store since,” said Mr Peters.
