Inaugural primary school basketball tournament held in Tipperary a 'resounding success'

CBS Thurles proudly played host to the inaugural Seamus Mangan Primary School Basketball Tournament on Wednesday, February 22, 2024.

The event was a resounding success, showcasing the spirit of sportsmanship and camaraderie among all who took part.

The tournament brought together eight schools and 20 teams for a day filled with sportsmanship, competition, and fun. We were thrilled with the positive response, as the schedule was meticulously crafted to ensure fun and enjoyment for all participants.

Two tournaments were held on the day, each designed to cater to different levels of skill and enthusiasm among the young athletes.

The first tournament was fiercely competitive, attracting schools eager to showcase their prowess on the court. This competitive segment provided an opportunity for the teams to demonstrate their skills and sportsmanship, with each match delivering thrilling moments for players and spectators alike.

Simultaneously, the second tournament followed a participation-based format, aimed at ensuring that every participant, regardless of skill level, had the chance to enjoy the experience of playing in a structured and supportive environment.

This approach reflects a commitment to inclusivity and the development of a love for the game among all young
players.

A massive thank you to Niall Berry and Hoops Life for organising the event seamlessly.  Their dedication and expertise contributed significantly to the success of the tournament, creating lasting memories for all involved.

Also, a big thank you to our canteen staff who ensured all got something nice to eat from our CBS dinner menu.

The Seamus Mangan Primary School Tournament is now marked as a milestone event in CBS Thurles sports calendar, with expectations high for future editions that will continue to inspire and unite the next generation of athletes.
