A quarter of a million euro allocated to improve Greenways in Tipperary

Numerous exciting projects have been included in the Transport Infrastructure Ireland funding for Tipperary County Council it was announced recently by Tipperary Senator Garret Ahearn.

Several plans have been highlighted, with the biggest allocation set to go toward the Suir Blueway from the Gashouse Bridge in Clonmel to Suir Island and on to Marlfield, with €150,000 being earmarked for the project, while Senator  Ahearn outlined some of the other routes to benefit from the €790,000 funding.

Plans to link the Suir Blueway with the East Limerick Greenway also continue to make progress with the allocation of €100,000 from TII, along with the Ballina to Dromineer section of the Lough Derg Greenway being funded to the tune of €80,000.

The vast bulk of the funding is aimed at connecting the Suir Blueway with the Waterford Greenway and this will be much welcomed by the local communities and is something which Senator Ahearn described as a "long term vision".
