Congratulations to Race to the Finish and Vision Zero the two Ursuline Junk Kouture entries that have qualified for the National Final in May.

The School was represented by three teams in the Southern Regional Junk Kouture Final, which took place in the Helix in Dublin on Monday, March 4.

Race to the Finish, modelled by Anna O’Callaghan with team mates Sophie Quirke and Julia McHugh, made their blue and silver dress from racing silks, baling twine and horseshoes.

They wowed the judges and booked a place for themselves in the 3Arena. Vision Zero has a strong road safety message.

Created by Tara Johnson, Caitlín Cussen and Christina Whelan from seat belts and high viz jackets and modelled by Christina, the purple and black fishtail dress, embellished with reflectors, lights up in the dark.

The final Junk Kouture dress on show at the Helix on Monday, 4 was Limitless. Modelled by Aoife Coyle and made by Aoife, Ellen Jordan and Rhianna Dollard, the A-Line shape skirt, with bustier top, used a truck curtain, nuts, bolts and washers as the main elements of the design.

All teams have had an amazing experience in the competition so far, and best wishes to Race to the Finish and Vision Zero as they continue to work on their designs, perfecting them for the National Final and hoping to be picked to go forward for the World Final just like Ursuline 2024 World Finalists, Eye of the Beholder and 2023 World Finalist and Cultural Couture prize winner Acantha.
